The British Grand Prix

Well it's summer, which means a wet and soggy Wimbledon fortnight with an even soggier British Grand Prix.  Currently I am giving serious consideration to building an Ark.

This weekend, as part of his 50th birthday celebrations Des is down at the British Grand Prix on a 3 day pass.  The plan was to camp on the circuit and enjoy easy and quick access to the racetrack each day.  However due to the wettest drought season on records plans have changed.  As the camp sites are more quagmired and muddied than a Mississippi swamp already, Des will be taking advantage of bed and breakfast at chez Steve and Erica's.  He's paid £85 for the privilege of parking his car at the circuit for three days, thanks Bernie. At least the car will be parked on hard standing and not stuck up to the wheel arches in Midlands mud.

Have spoken to our resident Murray Walker this morning and he's not a very happy petrol head.  Soaked from head to foot, peering through misty glasses at F1 cars tip toeing around the new pond known as Silverstone.  He's agreed to keep me posted with on the spot reporting but expect more reports along the lines of "Ady, it's wet.."  or "Ady, it's wetter than it was before.." or "Ady, it's still sodding wet.." or "Ady, it's still f*****g raining!!"

10 minutes ago he was reporting to me from the inside of the Focus, windows steaming, jeans steaming, windows fogged wondering if it will all be worth it!  Stick with it Des, things can only get better....!  I say as i turn on the tv and watch it live on the red button with coffee and cake :)  from the warmth and dryness of a cosy leather sofa.

Anyway for those of you interested, Hamilton was 3rd fastest in Fridays first practice session...here he is swimming around the 'Village' corners..

  1. Message from Chez Corcoran-Erika is spelt with a 'k' ERIKA!!!

DEZ is being treated like a king! He's liking the extras thrown in! I'd heartily recommend this B & B in Rugby!

  2. No further updates today as good ole British 'planning' has meant that even though Des has a valid ticket for admission and has paid in advance for parking Silverstone has demanded that these people don't turn up today to 'protect' the car parks for Sunday's race day. Not amused i think just about sums Des' mood.
