The Pool and Cycle ride

Had a great weekend!

Ollie, Jo and myself went swimming at an open air pool, yup, open air!  It was warm enough and as Ollie is always wanting to be in the water off we went to Bourne pool.

We also went cycling around the estate and grounds of Grimesthorpe Castle.  We took a picnic and had a great time.  This is just around the corner from us so we expect to be regular visitors!

Had the pool almost to ourselves

"..and it's Wilkie!"

"Hey, lookee under here!"

The 'Dive Off'

Ollie, not happy having to wear a hair net with his borrowed helmet lol

Just setting off..Grimesthorpe Castle in the background

Ollie on point

It's a really scenic ride

Smile please

We've just seen a Spitfire and Hurricane fly overhead at this point

See no evil hear no....

Ollie has just cycled up that hill in the background without stopping!

Picnic time!

Challenging each other to get to the top

It was like riding around your own National Park!

Ollie and Jo whiz through the park

Dad wants a go too!

Thursday 6 June 2013

Last weekend was quite eventful and definitely  a whole lot of fun.  We had our village beer and music festival which was a day long affair and went on into the early hours.  We had a Euro Fighter Typhoon display at Conningsby and a more sedate amble around the countryside on Sunday.

Some of our partners in crime at the Festival.  We are all on our way!
Alistair, myself, Jo, Martin, Dawn and Alison.

And the party went on...just after this shot the Vulcan flew over just left of the village!

Alistair and myself getting top ups

Jugs of Pimms all round

Made a pleasant change after 8 pints of strange beer!

Conningsby is always full of surprises...here two Hawks depart

The Euro Fighter or Typhoon
This guy through the plane around for a full 20 minutes doing the full practice display

Just caught him going full pelt down the centre line of the runway before he goes vertical

A Tornado GR4 left station too

Alfie was enthralled!

Here a four ship overflew, they are just beginning to break formation for landing

Conningsby is a very busy base, I call it Fightertown
A Typhoon heads back to the hardstanding shelters whilst others await their turn for departure in the background

All around us it's Yellow

Rape seed abounds making it very picturesque

Looking across the fields to the church..our house is right next to the church

Enjoying an evening walk with Alfie and Jo
