Normandy 2012 cont

visited the remnants of war ....still there 70 years later

Bunkers on the Atlantic wall taken by the Brits...this is one at Asnelles-sur-mer overlooking Gold beach

Paid respects at war memorials

Discovered little known British graves in village church yards

Visited sites of famous battle such as the taking of Pegasus Bridge by the British Airbourne

Moved at the cemeteries ...this is Ranville

another favourite place of mine..St Mere Eglise....notice the paratrooper hanging from the roof reflecting a real life event

Saw lots of tanks

Visited all the beaches...this is Dog Red on Bloody Omaha today..

More tanks...Bayeaux

Visited the American cemetery at Colleville just above Omaha...you may recognise it from the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan

Paid my respects at Bayeaux British war cemetery

I'll be posting a series of posts about Normandy over the coming weeks, each post concentrating on one specific area of D-Day.

My usual posts will be back too, comments on the events of the day, rants and anything you send to me!  I'll be out and about with my camera too when the weather picks up and will hopefully capture more wildlife pics.
