The Elfs, the Saudis and the Yanks!

Greetings one and all.

Bit of a 'Random' post today.  Bit's and pieces from the photo archives from this month.  We have a new super dancing troupe in the form of the dancing Elves...you should be able to recognise them.
The Royal Saudi Airforce came to play at Fightertown...and the yanks were on manouvers at Rufford Abbey.

Check in soon for my next post where i will be taking a nostalgic look at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight through my own pictures..

The Olliedin Line..

Yesterday brought us our first nautical adventure!  Ollie, myself, Gary and Hollie took Garys boat for a days sailing on the River Trent.  The weather was beautiful, the river was calm and all was good as we took the SS Titanic down to our launch point at North Muskham.  Funnily enough the launch was from a pub garden...I wonder why we chose that??

We were 'messing about' on the water for nearly 5 hours before we'd decided we had annoyed enough fishermen for one day and 'landed' at the pub.  A couple of pints of Abbott ale and a homemade steak and ale pie with mash and veg was just what the Admiral ordered after 5 hrs of pretending to be Special Boat Squadron.

Once we had sorted out the mis firing 2 stroke engine and realised that you actually need to plug in the plug at the bottom of the boat to stop water from coming in we had a ball!

Here's a few pics...

The Sun is shining, the equipment is out...just need to put it all together now!

"It looks like a boat, it looks like a boat"...the excitment builds!

Just 'a short' time later and there you have it. ...

Hi ho, hi ho its off to the river we go...

Final preps and we are launching!

..and off we go, all aboard the SS Titanic...God bless all who sail in her

the weather was perfect

the kids were enjoying it...

the sensible adults were enjoying it..

smiles all day!

"Dad Dad go into the trees!"

Ollie in charge, powering us down the Trent

Tieing up at the Weir just before Newark
"Now i'm not an expert at this mate, but should we really be using the fuel line to tie up with ?" lol

and here's a few videos too

What a great day, cheers Gary and Hollie

Chilling with Ollie..

Ollie and myself have been hanging out with each other over the last couple of weeks...here's just a few of the things we got up to..

We went to Tattershall Castle.  It's the finest mid 15th century Castle in England.
As well as look at all the rooms we climbed to the ramparts and had great views
over the Lincolnshire countryside and RAF Coningsby which is adjacent to the castle.

We went to Woodhall Spa 1940's weekend.  Here Ollie is behind the 30 Calibre machine gun on the halftrack belonging to my friends of the NorthWest 101st Re enactors group.  We also visited the Petwood Hotel,  the Mess for the officers of 617 Sqdn 'the Dambusters' during the war.  We had a great day!

Ollie and myself on the half track 'Berlin Buster'

A video of Ollie being given a tour of the camp at Woodhall Spa
Are they still looking for a new Dr Who?

We had a morning at RAF Coningsby with Ollie and myself getting close up and personal with
the 'Euro fighter' Typhoon.  Here Ollie is enjoying some Jet blast and listening to the roar of the engines..

Ready to depart...

The pilots would wave to Ollie...

..and Ollie would wave to the pilots..

Alien!!

This was Ollies favourite...he waved twice!

Back at Tattershall and I've had enough of Ollie...into the STOCKS boy!

No Ollie, you cannot practice dive into the moat!

Ollie on one of his dares...walking around the garden path...backwards!

Ollie on his second dare...skipping the whole way round the garden path!
